April Showers...had better bring May Flowers

Well we have had a whirl wind of a week with the weather! Nice at time then RAIN. I'm still used to be a socal girl where it doesn't rain and we have nice weather year round. But the rain does make everything feel really clean especially after all the wind we had last week which picked up all the dust and pollen and deposited it on my clean car. So I've been without a sewing machine all week seeing what my life would be like without it. Actually kind of peaceful to be honest movies and relaxing taking my time on my runs around the city. I kinda like it, but then I start thinking about what I could be making and creating and my head starts spinning with ideas. So maybe its not so great to not have a creative outlet.

Tomorrow I'm taking an embroidery machine class. It will be good to learn some new stuff and what to use when. Hopefully this will help me figure out some of my issues with my machine. If no I'm just going to continue to blame it on the materials I use (good plan). I'm also off to ikea possibly to find some photo frames as BT and I have decided we need to actually put up some photos in our apts. Other than that I will be waiting for the return of my machine and also on fabric hunt. Ive decided I'm going to try out THIS quilt along. If I fail oh well at least its a project I can slowly work on and learn some new skills!

Have a Great Weekend I'm sure you will hear from me soon!

Another One Bites the Dust

So my normal sewing machine (PFAFF) is now in the shop. Apparently I've been a sewing machine maniac and its a little off on the timing. It won't sew in a straight line it kinda makes these little jumps every once in a while. So I'm now sewing by hand and I'm one of those crafters who despises sewing by hand (thanks mom). I love to do embroidery by hand but sewing ugh. Talk about tedious and boring and just not how I want to spend my time! I am however making headbands like crazy and loving it even though I have to sew by hand. Lets hope everything sells at the craft fair otherwise I'm gonna have a lot of product and no storage!

New stuff

Well I've gone back to headband land (why I have no idea). And whipped these up! For Indie Sac but who knows they may make there way to etsy!

Crafty Crazy

Well today my little gift to myself arrived!!

Yes I know its just a bracelet but it also helped me start up a convo with someone on etsy. She is Super nice and has AMAZING stuff! You should check her out Craftychick101. I got the above and im thinking about getting a few more as gifts for friends. I wish I could be so talented and well patient cause this had to take alont time to make! And it even came in a shiney silver box!!!

Fingers

My Fingers are my life. They type on my keyboard they help me sew and craft. If I didnt have Fingers I would be beside myself. Well today I got to thank my luckey stars that I didnt break all of them off. You see I have old (and by old I mean ancient could be in a museum on display) windows. They have been painted shut who knows how many times so getting them open is always a challenge. And then there is the closing part. Its seems once you get them moving in a downward direction they go slamming down. Today my fingers got caught while they were slamming down and were wedged between the two pains. One hand I ripped away quickly while the other took some prying. I was no where near a phone and my neighbor wasnt home. I was stuck! And I thought "I dont want to die this way" and I pulled them out slowely howling like a hurt puppy. And the worste part about it is its just like slamming your fingers in a door. There was a sharp pain that went from my fingers up to my arm pits! I would dance and scream as I tried to shake it out of my arm (yeah like that was gonna work). And then the bleeding. Then the cold water because I have no ice and im not putting bloody fingers on top of a bag of frozen peas I want to eat those! Yes it was an eventful day. But im still here and im typing which is a good sign. Although my fingers could use some TLC.

OOOH Boy Toy

You know those days where you cant tell up from down? I think BT was having one of those days. After running over to his apt from my place as I normally do on Mondays( a 3 mile run), he proceeded to tell me about his day. He surprised me by revealing he went running!!! Something he hates to do. So I asked "how far did you run?" He said "About 2 miles." I asked "Well where did you run to?" His reply "I ran from here to your place around the park and back." I sat there shocked and a little befuddled. I looked at him laughing saying "Boy Toy that isn't 2 miles its 5!" He then got that look. You know the look where the light bulb goes off in your head and said "So that's why it took so long". Sometimes I hate BT but then he goes and does something like this. Something he knows will make me happy (trying to get in shape) all the while having one of his "moments" which makes it even more enjoyable for myself.

Luv Ya BT...but next time map out run so you can walk the next day.

March Madness

Well it's that time of year again. For most of you that know me March is the month that I despise the most. March is the one month of they year I can count on not seeing Boy Toy for about 3 weeks due to March Madness. March Madness is probably one of the most efficient sporting events I've ever witnessed with a round robin style tournament (I could only wish for the regular season of sports to be so efficient). But it still consumes Boy Toy's life (who is writing a running diary of the event) and I'm left in the lurch. Every year I am forced (and I say forced because if BT wasn't around I wouldn't do it) to make a bracket. And every year my bracket disappoints me, but that's probably because my choices are not based on the team standings.

Last year my choices were based on matching up the mascots choosing which one would kill the other first if they had to fight. This year my choices were based upon website design. Boy Toy brought up each schools website which I rated to choose which one I liked best. This would correspond to them winning the tournament. After one weekend of seeing my philosophy at work I've come to a conclusion. Teams that were ranked lower have better website design because they have a harder time getting students to attend the school. Ive pretty much destroyed my brackets this year. I'm almost in last place out of our friends because I didn't "chalk" like one of our buddies who is sure to pass me up within the next few days.

Next years Team choices will probably based on some nonsensical idea like school population, graduation rates, schools physical size, Best Colors, or school ranking in general. What ever I choose will of course do the worst in the standings but at least I have fun figuring out how I'm going to choose since I don't follow sports nor do I understand ratings.

Don't get me wrong I love sports. I played soccer all my life I water skied in college and have always been active. I just hate watching them on TV. I also don't understand why men yell at the TV when the team isn't playing well, they cant hear you its not going to change anything. I guess id rather go play then sit and watch.
